Asphalt paving projects can be cumbersome and difficult, especially dealing with multiple tenants. But the work has to be done! We know all too well the long, arduous process of construction projects like this. That’s why at Bituminous Roadways, we will do everything we can to provide a less-stress paving project experience, and here’s how!

Estimating/Contracts

Before starting any paving projects, whether patching, pothole filling or parking lot reconstructs, BR estimators will come to your site and evaluate the needs of the property. Once the evaluation is complete, an estimate will be sent. BR encourages feedback, so if you receive an estimate and have any questions, we are more than happy to provide answers. If you received multiple bids and are not sure if you’re looking at an apples-to-apples cost comparison, we are here to help educate you on what to look for. You are making a big commitment to the value of your property; we want to make sure you are comfortable when reviewing estimates.

Scheduling

Numerous factors are considered when scheduling asphalt paving projects, including subcontractors’ availability, weather, project scope, etc. BR relies on our project superintendents to schedule paving projects. Typically, we know a few weeks in advance when your project has been scheduled. Once this information is known, the project superintendent or foreman will usually reach out to you. In some cases, projects get delayed for reasons outside of our control and we will do our absolute best to keep you, the customer, informed.

Consistent Communication

If any circumstances arise that may interfere with your building’s asphalt paving project, BR personnel will reach out with additional information as promptly as possible. When weather conditions necessitate rescheduling of a project commencement or completion date, we’ll provide you with revised dates as soon as possible.

In addition to communicating promptly about potential project interferences and rescheduling needs, we’ll also reach out to let you know:

  • When irrigation must be turned off so water doesn’t saturate the pavement’s subgrade
  • If you’ll need to reschedule routine garbage service, lawn service, and other community services your tenants may rely on
  • Whether you’ll need to contact delivery companies (ie: Amazon, FedEx, UPS, etc.) to let them know certain areas may be inaccessible on specific days

Your project estimator will also be available to address any major questions you may have. Our estimators are in constant communication with our crew foreman and project superintendents and are more than happy to troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

On-site Project Foreman Who Can Address Questions and Concerns

If your tenants have questions about the project, there will always be Bituminous Roadways personnel on-site to answer them. Aside from the labor personnel who will be performing the asphalt paving, a crew foreman will also be present for each crew working on the project.

A project superintendent or estimator may also make periodic visits to the worksite to check in on the project’s progress. Any questions or concerns can be directed to a foreman, superintendent, or estimator, and personnel wearing yellow vests can also address inquiries.

Safety Barricades and Traffic Control

While the paving project is in progress, our team implements barricades, traffic cones, and caution tape to block off the worksite and ensure the safety of the public and our crew members. Before the project gets underway, we’ll also take the time to assess traffic control needs for the property and surrounding communities, so we can implement the appropriate safety measures once our crews arrive on site.
