Knowing how to maintain and care for your asphalt can ensure durability, longevity, and quality. Look at these tips for basic solutions to common asphalt problems. Without regular asphalt maintenance, water, sun, and traffic cause asphalt to erode. Although a solid foundation, quality asphalt mix, and professional installation can increase the lifespan of your pavement, it still needs regular attention and care.
The need to be an environmental steward is critical, now more than ever. Bituminous Roadways, Inc. has a long history of caring for natural resources by recycling asphalt pavement. Since the early 1970’s, Bituminous Roadways has been incorporating recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) into newly produced asphalt mixtures. Porous Asphalt pavement offers developers and planners a new tool in their toolbox for managing storm water. These pavements, used mostly for parking lots, allow water to drain through the pavement surface into the stone recharge bed and infiltrate into the soils below the pavement, thus replacing impermeable surfaces for parking lots, roads, walking/biking paths and other applications. A typical porous pavement has an open-graded surface over an underlying stone bed allowing the infiltration process.
