While 2020 has brought significant challenges to companies across the globe, one local non-profit organization is trying to make the world a better place for kids with physical disabilities. Hope Fieldhouse broke ground in 2019 and started operating in 2020. It is a premier fitness facility with four gymnasiums, a fitness center, walking/running track, locker rooms and a café.

The Construction Health and Safety Excellence (CHASE) program began in 2003 as a partnership between the Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MN OSHA) and the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Minnesota. The program is designed to recognize AGC member contractors for their safety programs and performance. Bituminous Roadways (BR) was the third overall construction company to join the CHASE program in 2004. Just this year, BR became the first ever “Asphalt Contractor” to achieve CHASE Level 3 status.

In 2016, BR submitted an asphalt paving bid for the Minnesota Vikings TCO Performance Center via an electronic request for proposal to Kraus-Anderson, the project’s general contractor. Once awarded the project, BR didn’t actually start installing asphalt until mid-year, 2017, nearly a year from the original bid date. Other subcontractors were on the docket first, to complete portions of the project prior to BR installing any asphalt.
