What is Porous Asphalt?

Porous Asphalt pavement offers developers and planners a new tool in their toolbox for managing storm water. These pavements, used mostly for parking lots, allow water to drain through the pavement surface into the stone recharge bed and infiltrate into the soils below the pavement, thus replacing impermeable surfaces for parking lots, roads, walking/biking paths and other applications. A typical porous pavement has an open-graded surface over an underlying stone bed allowing the infiltration process.
