Learn More About What Makes Athletic Surfaces Different

When we perform track paving and other similar tasks, we have to give these structures tighter surface tolerances than we would with a road or a parking lot. To accomplish this goal, we first remove all poor soils to the frost line, which means we often dig over 40 inches into the ground. Then,  we construct our own sturdy and dependable sub base in layers of engineer-approved materials.

Next, we install aggregate base layers up to a foot thick before we lay two or more thin lifts of pavement. These lifts tend to be one and a half to two inches thick.

Sub base soils have different compositions across the Minneapolis, MN area, so make sure you hire a pavement expert who can adjust to those compositions. Our process gives your athletic surface its best chance at weathering the region’s harsh weather. We have over 70 years of industry experience, so you can depend on us to install your surfaces correctly the first time.
