Much of the news this week is going to be focused on the looming shutdown of our state government. What a shame it’s come down to this. Voters sent representatives to St Paul with 2 main directives: Get Minnesota working; and fix the massive state deficit.
After five months, our legislators and governor have failed enact a 2-year budget. A government shutdown will cost Minnesota taxpayers more, not less. Jobs, both public and private, are on the line. Just the threat of the shutdown is costing taxpayers and private business millions of dollars in preparation.
Despite this, we have news of our own and we remain positive. First, this is Tom Haller’s last week of work. After 42 dedicated years at BR, Tom is retiring. What a remarkable legacy, and example, he has left for us. We’ll be celebrating this feat on Thursday with a bar-b-que. Come one and all – call the office if you have any questions.
Secondly, we are on pace for a record-setting June in terms of contract dollars added. And thirdly, we are hiring. We are in need experienced operators for grading. It looks like it’ll be a busy summer with numerous school projects we are starting.
Governor and Legislators: Get Minnesota working! However, despite what you do, we’ll be busy as bees.
