To make way for the grand re-opening this fall 2015, Bituminous Roadways, Inc. was contracted to rehabilitate some of the parking lots surrounding the mall.

The method chosen to rehabilitate the Macy’s parking lot was a 2” mill and overlay.

A mill & overlay is completed by “milling” (grinding) off the top 2” of old/deteriorated asphalt with a milling machine and replacing it with 2” of new asphalt using a paver.  The rubble asphalt is hauled back to one of our asphalt plants to be recycled into new pavement.

After the wear course is put in place and adequately compacted, pavement markings are painted onto the new surface.
