End of an Era (7/11/11)

The biggest news around here is not the Minnesota State government shutdown because, fortunately for us, we are not reliant solely on state work.

The biggest news around here is the retirement of longtime employee Tom Haller, which occurred July 1st.

Tom Haller started at BR as a laborer in 1969. Over the years he has worked in many capacities. For 30 of his 42 years at BR, Tom has been an Estimator. Most recently, Tom was a Chief Estimator.

Tom has played a vital role in the continued success of BR. He taught many of us how to bid work. But most importantly, he led by example, showing us every day that honesty, fairness, and solid ethics will, in the long run, win the race. Tom has been a mentor to many employees.

Thank you, Tom, for serving as a role model. You will be missed by many in our world of asphalt.
