You compile your team based on their different backgrounds, experience and knowledge in their particular position. Having a solid, “diverse” mix of teammates is what leads a team to victory.

Diversity can mean many different things when building a team. Common types of diversity include differences in age, race, religion, ethnicity, education, points of view, work experience, characteristics and personality traits, viewpoints and others. All of these are what makes a person different, therefore, creating an environment where teammates can brainstorm, share ideas and ultimately reach the most effective resolutions.

Having a diverse team creates a strong learning atmosphere. It fosters open communication, constructive conflict, the need to keep an open mind, and can also help build trust. A strong leader is able to learn and utilize each members’ strengths and have the ultimate outcome benefit from the diverse knowledge of the group.
